When God Seems Silent: Learning to Trust Him in Waiting

Scripture Reading:  “Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart; wait, I say, on the Lord.” - Psalm 27:14
Brothers and sisters in Christ, there are moments in life when we pray, but heaven seems silent.
We ask God for help, but the answer does not come quickly. We ask for healing, but the pain remains. We ask for peace, but the problem continues. We ask for direction, but the way still seems unclear.
And sometimes, in the quietness of waiting, the heart begins to ask, “Lord, are You still listening?”
Maybe you have experienced this. Maybe you are experiencing it now. You have prayed many times. You have cried in secret. You have waited for God to move. But still, the answer seems delayed.
Today, the message of God’s Word reminds us: God’s silence does not mean God’s absence.
The Lord may seem silent, but He is still present. He may not answer according to our schedule, but He is never late. He may not work in the way we expect, but He is always working according to His perfect will.
<h2>I. WAITING TESTS OUR FAITH</h2>
Waiting is one of the hardest parts of the Christian life. It is easier to believe when prayers are answered quickly. It is easier to trust when blessings are visible. It is easier to praise when life is peaceful.
But what happens when God says, “Wait”?
Psalm 27:14 says, “Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart.”
The Bible does not say waiting will always be easy. But it tells us that while we wait, God strengthens the heart.
Waiting reveals what is inside us. It reveals whether our faith depends only on immediate answers or on the character of God. It reveals whether we trust God only when life is comfortable or even when life is uncertain.
Brothers and sisters, faith is not proven only when we receive what we ask for. Faith is also proven when we continue trusting God even when the answer has not yet come.
<h2>II. GOD IS WORKING EVEN WHEN WE CANNOT SEE IT</h2>
Sometimes we think that if we cannot see anything happening, then nothing is happening. But God works in ways that our eyes cannot always see.
A seed under the ground seems silent, but growth is happening. A child in the womb is hidden, but life is forming. The night may be dark, but morning is already coming.
In the same way, when God seems silent, He may be preparing something we cannot yet understand.
Abraham waited for the promised son. Joseph waited in prison before becoming a ruler in Egypt. Moses waited in the wilderness before leading Israel. David waited before becoming king. The disciples waited for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit.
Their waiting was not wasted. God was preparing them.
Sometimes God delays the answer because He is preparing the blessing. Sometimes He delays the answer because He is preparing the situation. And sometimes He delays the answer because He is preparing us.
We may be asking God to change our circumstances, but God may first be changing our hearts.
<h2>III. SILENCE CAN LEAD US CLOSER TO GOD</h2>
When everything is easy, we may forget how much we need God. But when life becomes difficult, prayer becomes deeper. Faith becomes more serious. Worship becomes more meaningful.
Sometimes silence becomes a classroom. In that classroom, God teaches patience, humility, surrender, and trust.
It is in the waiting season that we learn to say, “Lord, I do not understand, but I still trust You.”
It is in the waiting season that we learn to depend not on feelings, but on God’s promises.
Isaiah 40:31 says, “But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles.”
Notice that the promise is not only that God will remove every burden immediately. The promise is that He will renew our strength.
Sometimes God calms the storm. Sometimes God strengthens His child inside the storm.
<h2>IV. WE ARE A WAITING PEOPLE</h2>
As Seventh-day Adventist Christians, we understand waiting in a very special way. We are waiting for the soon return of Jesus Christ.
But our waiting should not be careless. Our waiting should not be lazy. Our waiting should not make us discouraged.
While we wait, we pray. 
While we wait, we serve. 
While we wait, we obey. 
While we wait, we share the gospel. 
While we wait, we keep the faith of Jesus. 
While we wait, we prepare our hearts for His coming.
The delay of Christ’s return is not a reason to lose hope. It is a call to be faithful.
2 Peter 3:9 reminds us that the Lord is not slack concerning His promise, but is longsuffering, not willing that any should perish. God’s waiting is connected to His mercy. He is giving people more time to repent, more time to hear the gospel, and more time to come to Jesus.
So while we wait for answered prayers, and while we wait for the coming of Jesus, we must remain faithful.
<h2>V. JESUS IS OUR GREATEST ASSURANCE</h2>
When we are tempted to think that God has forgotten us, we must look at the cross.
The cross is the greatest proof that God loves us. Jesus suffered for us. Jesus died for us. Jesus gave His life to save us.
If God gave His Son for our salvation, we can trust Him with our unanswered prayers. We can trust Him with our future. We can trust Him with our families. We can trust Him with our pain.
God may not always explain why we must wait, but He has already shown that He cares.
When God seems silent, remember Jesus. 
When the answer is delayed, remember Jesus. 
When your heart is tired, remember Jesus. 
When your faith is weak, remember Jesus.
He is still our Savior. 
He is still our Mediator. 
He is still our coming King.
<h2>APPEAL</h2>
Brothers and sisters, maybe today you are waiting for something.
You may be waiting for healing. 
You may be waiting for peace. 
You may be waiting for direction. 
You may be waiting for forgiveness. 
You may be waiting for reconciliation. 
You may be waiting for provision. 
You may be waiting for a burden to be lifted.
Do not give up.
God sees your tears. God hears your prayers. God knows your struggles. God understands your pain. And even when you cannot see His hand, you can trust His heart.
The silence of God is not the absence of God. The delay of God is not the denial of God. The waiting season is not wasted when your heart remains with Him.
So today, let us choose to wait with faith. Let us wait with courage. Let us wait with prayer. Let us wait with obedience. Let us wait with hope.
Because one day, the waiting will end.
One day, Jesus will come again. One day, every tear will be wiped away. One day, pain will be gone. One day, questions will be answered. One day, faith will become sight.
Until that day, let us hold on to Jesus.
God is never late. 
God is never absent. 
God is never unfaithful.
He is working, even in the waiting.
<h2>PRAYER</h2>
Our loving Heavenly Father, thank You for reminding us that even when You seem silent, You are still near. Help us to trust You when answers are delayed. Strengthen our hearts while we wait. Teach us patience, humility, and faith.
Lord, forgive us for the times we doubted Your love. Help us to remember that You are working even when we cannot see it. Keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, and prepare our hearts for His soon return.
May we wait with courage, serve with love, and live with hope until the day Jesus comes again.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Scripture Reading: “And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.” - Matthew 24:6-8
Brothers and sisters in Christ, today many people are looking at Israel and asking serious questions: What is happening? Why is it happening? And what is God’s plan?
When we see the news about Israel, Gaza, Palestine, the West Bank, and the wider Middle East, our hearts are troubled. We see war. We see fear. We see families displaced. We see children suffering. We see people crying for safety, justice, peace, and survival.
And as Christians, we cannot look at suffering with cold hearts.
Jesus did not teach us to rejoice when people suffer. He did not teach us to hate one nation and love another. He died for all humanity. He died for Jews. He died for Palestinians. He died for Arabs. He died for Filipinos. He died for every tribe, tongue, people, and nation.
So when we speak about Israel today, we must speak with humility, compassion, and Bible truth.
<h2>I. WHAT IS HAPPENING TODAY?</h2>
Today, Israel and the surrounding areas continue to experience conflict, fear, and instability. There are wars and rumors of wars. There are political disputes, military actions, questions of land, questions of security, questions of justice, and deep wounds from the past.
Many people are afraid. Many are angry. Many are confused. Many are asking, “Where is God in all of this?”
But Jesus already told us that before His coming, the world would be troubled. He said there would be wars, rumors of wars, famines, pestilences, earthquakes, and distress among nations.
But notice the words of Jesus: “See that you are not troubled.”
Jesus did not say these things would be easy. He did not say we would understand everything immediately. But He told us not to allow world events to destroy our faith.
The world may be troubled, but God is still on the throne.
<h2>II. WHY IS IT HAPPENING?</h2>
There are historical and political reasons why conflict continues in the Middle East. There are long struggles over land, security, identity, leadership, justice, and national survival. These issues are complicated, and we should not explain them carelessly.
But behind the political reasons, the Bible shows us a deeper spiritual reason: sin.
War is the fruit of sin. Hatred is the fruit of sin. Revenge is the fruit of sin. Pride, oppression, cruelty, and selfishness are all fruits of sin.
From the time sin entered the world, humanity has been divided. Cain killed Abel. Nations rose against nations. Kingdoms fought kingdoms. And until today, the heart of man still needs the transforming power of God.
This is why the problem of the world cannot be solved only by politics, weapons, treaties, or human power. These may help for a time, but the deepest need of humanity is a new heart.
Only Jesus can change the heart.
<h2>III. IS MODERN ISRAEL THE CENTER OF GOD’S FINAL PLAN?</h2>
Many people believe that everything happening in the modern nation of Israel is the main center of Bible prophecy. But as Seventh-day Adventist Christians, we must be careful to study prophecy through Christ and the whole Bible.
In the Old Testament, Israel was chosen by God for a mission. God called Israel to be a light to the nations. Through Israel came the Scriptures, the prophets, the sanctuary message, and most of all, Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world.
But Israel’s calling was never meant to be selfish. God said to Abraham, “In you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”
God’s plan was always worldwide.
In the New Testament, the focus becomes clearer. The true people of God are not identified merely by race, bloodline, or nationality, but by faith in Jesus Christ.
Galatians 3:29 says, “And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.”
This means that God’s final people are those who belong to Christ. They are people who follow the Lamb. They keep the commandments of God and have the faith of Jesus.
So we must not turn Bible prophecy into political favoritism. We must not say, “God loves this people and hates that people.” No. God loves the world. Jesus died for all.
God’s final plan is not centered on earthly nationalism. God’s final plan is centered on Jesus Christ.
<h2>IV. WHAT IS GOD’S PLAN?</h2>
God’s plan is salvation.
God’s plan is to save Jews, Palestinians, Arabs, Filipinos, and people from every nation. God’s plan is to call people out of sin and into Christ. God’s plan is to prepare a people who will reflect His character in the last days.
Revelation 14 gives us the message for this time. The first angel says, “Fear God and give glory to Him, for the hour of His judgment has come.”
This is the message the world needs today. Not hatred. Not pride. Not revenge. Not blind political loyalty. The world needs the everlasting gospel.
The gospel tells us that Jesus is the only Savior. Jesus is the Prince of Peace. Jesus is the Lamb of God. Jesus is the coming King.
One day, all earthly kingdoms will pass away. All wars will end. All suffering will cease. There will be no more crying, no more death, no more pain, and no more division. God will make all things new.
That is God’s plan.
<h2>V. HOW SHOULD WE RESPOND AS ADVENTISTS?</h2>
First, we must respond with prayer.
Let us pray for Israel. Let us pray for Palestine. Let us pray for Gaza. Let us pray for the innocent, the grieving, the wounded, the hungry, and the displaced. Let us pray for leaders to seek peace and justice. Let us pray for hearts to be changed by God.
Second, we must respond with compassion.
A true Christian cannot ignore suffering. We must care about human life. We must not celebrate death. We must not spread hatred. We must speak with kindness and truth.
Third, we must respond with spiritual readiness.
Jesus said these things are signs that remind us we are living in a serious time. But signs are not given to make us proud. They are given to make us ready.
The question is not only, “What will happen to Israel?” 
The greater question is, “Am I ready for Jesus to come?”
Are our hearts surrendered to Christ? 
Are our homes filled with prayer? 
Are we keeping God’s commandments with love? 
Are we sharing the gospel? 
Are we living as lights in this dark world?
Brothers and sisters, when nations shake, Christ remains. When leaders fail, Christ remains. When peace talks fail, Christ remains. When people are afraid, Christ remains.
Our hope is not in earthly power. Our hope is in Jesus.
<h2>APPEAL</h2>
Today, God is calling us to look beyond the headlines and look to Christ. Let us not be people of fear. Let us be people of faith. Let us not be people of hatred. Let us be people of compassion. Let us not be careless with prophecy. Let us be faithful students of the Word.
Israel today reminds us that this world needs Jesus. The suffering of nations reminds us that human solutions are not enough. The signs of the times remind us that Jesus is coming soon.
So let us surrender our hearts to God. Let us pray for peace. Let us love all people. Let us share the everlasting gospel. And let us be ready for the kingdom that will never fall.
<h2>PRAYER</h2>
Our loving Heavenly Father, we come before You with humble hearts. We see the suffering in Israel, Palestine, Gaza, and many parts of the world. We pray for the innocent, the grieving, the wounded, the hungry, and the displaced. Lord, bring comfort where there is pain. Bring peace where there is hatred. Bring healing where there is brokenness.
Help us not to be careless, proud, or hateful. Teach us to understand prophecy through Jesus. Teach us to love all people as Christ loves them. Prepare our hearts for the soon return of our Savior.
May we be faithful in these last days. May we proclaim the everlasting gospel. May our lives point others to Jesus, the Prince of Peace and the coming King.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Scripture Reading: “He who is faithful in what is least is faithful also in much.” - Luke 16:10Brothers and sisters in Christ, many people dream of doing great things for God. We want to have strong faith, powerful prayers, successful ministries, and a life that makes a difference. But sometimes, we forget that greatness in the eyes of God often begins with faithfulness in small things.God does not only look at what we do in public. He also sees what we do when no one is watching. He sees the small choices, the quiet prayers, the simple acts of kindness, the honest work, the patience we show, and the love we give even when it is not noticed.In the Christian life, little things matter.A small word of encouragement can lift a discouraged heart. A short prayer can bring peace to a troubled soul. A simple visit can comfort someone who feels alone. A small act of honesty can become a powerful witness. A little time spent with God each day can strengthen our faith for greater trials.Jesus said that the one who is faithful in little things will also be faithful in much. This means that God prepares us for greater responsibilities through daily faithfulness.David was faithful while taking care of sheep before he became king. Joseph was faithful as a servant and prisoner before he became a ruler in Egypt. Daniel was faithful in prayer before he stood before kings. Their greatness did not begin in the palace. It began in the ordinary moments of life.As Seventh-day Adventist Christians, we are called to live faithfully while waiting for the soon return of Jesus. But readiness for Christ’s coming is not only shown in big events or loud declarations. It is shown in daily surrender.Are we faithful in our prayer life? Are we faithful in keeping the Sabbath holy? Are we faithful in our words, our work, our family, and our responsibilities? Are we faithful in loving others, even when it is difficult? Are we faithful in doing what is right, even when no one sees?Sometimes we think that small sins do not matter, small compromises are harmless, and small duties are not important. But little choices shape the heart. A small compromise, repeated many times, can lead a person away from God. But small acts of obedience, repeated daily, can build a strong Christian character.The Christian life is not built in one day. It is built day by day, prayer by prayer, choice by choice.God is not asking us to be famous. He is asking us to be faithful.Maybe today, your work feels unnoticed. Your service in the church may seem small. Your prayers may feel simple. Your efforts may not be appreciated by others. But remember this: heaven sees what people often ignore. God values every faithful act done with love.Colossians 3:23 reminds us, “And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men.”When we clean, serve, teach, lead, help, give, pray, or work, we must do it for the Lord. Human praise may fade, but God’s reward is sure.Brothers and sisters, Jesus Himself showed faithfulness in humble service. He washed the feet of His disciples. He touched the sick. He welcomed children. He comforted sinners. He served with love. If the King of the universe was willing to serve in humble ways, then we too must be faithful in the little things.As we wait for the soon coming of Jesus, let us not become careless. Let us not wait for big opportunities before we serve God. Let us begin today—with our family, our church, our workplace, our school, and our community.Be faithful in prayer. Be faithful in worship. Be faithful in kindness. Be faithful in honesty. Be faithful in Sabbath keeping. Be faithful in service. Be faithful even in the little things.Because one day, when Jesus comes, the greatest words we can hear are not, “Well done, famous servant,” or “Well done, talented servant,” but “Well done, good and faithful servant.”AppealToday, God is calling us to renew our commitment to Him. Let us ask the Lord to help us become faithful not only in big responsibilities, but also in the small daily choices of life.May our homes, our church, and our hearts be filled with faithful service. And may we be ready to meet Jesus when He comes again.PrayerOur loving Heavenly Father, thank You for reminding us that faithfulness begins in the little things. Help us to serve You with humble hearts. Teach us to be faithful in prayer, in worship, in our work, in our words, and in our daily choices. When the Earth Shakes, God Remains

Scripture Reading: “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, even though the earth be removed.” - Psalms 46:1-2
Brothers and sisters in Christ, recent earthquakes and calamities remind us of one important truth: life in this world is uncertain. In just a few seconds, the ground can shake, homes can be damaged, plans can be changed, and hearts can be filled with fear.
But while the earth may shake, our God remains unshaken.
As Seventh-day Adventists, we do not look at calamities with fear alone. We look at them with spiritual eyes. Jesus told us in Matthew 24 that earthquakes, disasters, and troubles would be among the signs reminding us that this world is not our permanent home. These events are not given to make us panic, but to awaken us—to prepare our hearts, strengthen our faith, and renew our commitment to God.
When calamities come, we are reminded of three important things.
First, we are reminded to trust God. Psalm 46 tells us that God is our refuge. A refuge is a place of safety. When people are afraid, when families are grieving, and when communities are suffering, God invites us to run to Him. He may not always stop the shaking of the earth, but He can calm the shaking of the heart.
Second, we are reminded to prepare. Preparation is not a lack of faith; it is an act of wisdom. We prepare our homes, our families, and our emergency needs. But above all, we prepare our souls. The greatest preparation is not only having supplies ready, but having our hearts ready for the soon return of Jesus.
Third, we are reminded to serve others. In times of calamity, the church must become the hands and feet of Christ. We are called to pray, comfort, give, encourage, and help those who are suffering. Our faith must not remain only in words. It must be seen in compassion, kindness, and action.
Brothers and sisters, the recent calamities are a serious reminder that this world is fragile. But we have hope. Jesus is coming again. One day, there will be no more earthquakes, no more floods, no more tears, no more death, and no more pain. God will make all things new.
So today, let us not live in fear. Let us live in faith. Let us pray for those affected. Let us help where we can. Let us prepare our families. And most of all, let us prepare our hearts.
Though the earth may shake, God’s promises stand firm. Though calamities may come, Jesus remains our refuge. And though this world is troubled, our hope is in the soon coming of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Appeal: 
Let us draw closer to God today. Let us surrender our fears to Him, strengthen our faith, and be ready—not only for emergencies in this life, but for the glorious return of Jesus.
Prayer: 
Heavenly Father, we come to You in humility and faith. We pray for all those affected by earthquakes and calamities. Comfort the grieving, heal the injured, protect the rescuers, and provide for every family in need. Help us to trust You, prepare wisely, and serve others with love. Keep our hearts faithful and ready for the soon return of Jesus. In His name, Amen.

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ. Today, I want to speak to you about a powerful emotion that can damage our relationship with God and with one another: envy. Envy is a destructive force that can eat away our hearts and souls, but through God's grace and guidance, we can overcome it and strengthen our connection with Him.
I. The Destructive Power of Envy Envy is a feeling of discontent and resentment when we see others blessed with something we desire. It can manifest in various forms: jealousy, covetousness, and even bitterness. Envy not only damages our relationships with others but also hinders our spiritual growth and our relationship with God. Let's explore how envy can affect our lives:
<ol>
	<li>Envy breeds bitterness: When we envy others, it often leads to bitterness and resentment. This bitterness can poison our hearts, making it difficult to experience God's love and peace.</li>
	<li>Envy disrupts unity: Envy can create division within families, communities, and even churches. It erodes the sense of unity and fellowship that God desires for His people.</li>
	<li>Envy blinds us to God's blessings: When we focus on what others have, we become blind to the blessings God has bestowed upon us. This ingratitude can damage our relationship with Him.</li>
</ol>
II. Overcoming Envy through God's Word Thankfully, God's Word provides us with guidance on how to overcome envy and restore our relationship with Him:
<ol>
	<li>Cultivate gratitude: The antidote to envy is gratitude. We must learn to count our blessings and acknowledge the good things that God has given us. In 1 Thessalonians 5:18, we are reminded to "give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus."</li>
	<li>Focus on eternal treasures: Instead of coveting earthly possessions, we should set our hearts on eternal treasures. Jesus taught in Matthew 6:19-20, "Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth... But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven."</li>
	<li>Rejoice with others: The Bible encourages us to rejoice with those who rejoice and weep with those who weep (Romans 12:15). By celebrating the blessings of others, we can combat envy and strengthen our relationships.</li>
</ol>
III. Prayer and Seeking God's Grace Ultimately, overcoming envy requires us to turn to God in prayer and seek His grace. We must ask for His help in transforming our hearts and minds.
<ol>
	<li>Prayer for a transformed heart: In Psalm 51:10, David prayed, "Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me." Let us pray for God to purify our hearts and remove envy from within.</li>
	<li>Seek God's guidance: Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us to trust in the Lord with all our hearts and lean not on our own understanding. When we seek God's guidance, He will show us the way to overcome envy.</li>
</ol>

Good day, dear brothers and sisters in Christ. Today, we gather here to discuss a topic that touches the lives of many in our congregation and beyond. It is a topic that can bring pain, confusion, and heartache to those who have experienced it, and it is a subject that demands our careful consideration as Seventh-day Adventist Christians. Our topic today is divorce.
<h4>I. The Sanctity of Marriage:</h4>
Before delving into the complexities of divorce, let us first remind ourselves of the divine institution of marriage. God, in His wisdom, created marriage to be a sacred covenant between a man and a woman. In the book of Genesis, we read, "Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh" (Genesis 2:24 ESV).
Marriage is intended to be a reflection of God's love for His people, the church. It is a bond that is meant to be unbreakable, a union built on love, trust, and commitment. As Seventh-day Adventists, we believe in upholding the sanctity of marriage and promoting strong, healthy relationships within our families.
<h4>II. God's Design for Marriage:</h4>
In the Bible, Jesus reaffirmed God's design for marriage when He said, "What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate" (Matthew 19:6 ESV). This verse reminds us that marriage is not just a human contract but a divine covenant. It's a promise made not only to one's spouse but also to God Himself.
<h4>III. The Reality of Broken Marriages:</h4>
Despite our best intentions, we must acknowledge the painful reality that marriages sometimes face insurmountable challenges. There are times when couples find themselves in situations of deep conflict, abuse, or unfaithfulness. In such circumstances, the question of divorce inevitably arises.
<h4>IV. Divorce in Adventist Teaching:</h4>
Seventh-day Adventists approach the issue of divorce with great care and in accordance with biblical principles. We believe that divorce should not be taken lightly, as it can have far-reaching consequences for individuals, families, and the church. However, we also recognize that the Bible permits divorce in certain circumstances.
<h5>1. Grounds for Divorce:</h5>
The Bible provides two specific grounds for divorce:
<ol class="pl-12" type="a">
	<li>Sexual Immorality: In Matthew 5:32, Jesus stated, "But I say to you that everyone who divorces his wife, except on the ground of sexual immorality, makes her commit adultery, and whoever marries a divorced woman commits adultery" (ESV). This exception acknowledges that infidelity can rupture the marital covenant.</li>
	<li>Desertion by an Unbelieving Spouse: The Apostle Paul, in 1 Corinthians 7:15, writes, "But if the unbelieving partner separates, let it be so. In such cases, the brother or sister is not enslaved. God has called you to peace" (ESV). This passage recognizes that a believer may find themselves in a marriage where their unbelieving spouse chooses to leave, and in such cases, the believer is not bound to continue the marriage.</li>
</ol>
<h5>2. Reconciliation and Forgiveness:</h5>
While divorce may be allowed under certain circumstances, it should always be viewed as a last resort. As Christians, we are called to seek reconciliation whenever possible, to extend forgiveness, and to work towards healing within our marriages.
<h4>V. Pastoral Care and Support:</h4>
For those among us who have experienced divorce, or those who may be facing this difficult decision, our church is here to offer pastoral care, support, and guidance. It is crucial that we, as a community of faith, approach individuals who have gone through divorce with love and compassion, helping them heal and grow in their relationship with God.
In conclusion, divorce is a deeply challenging and sensitive issue that must be approached with grace, humility, and a commitment to upholding the sanctity of marriage. As Seventh-day Adventists, we are called to follow the teachings of Christ and the principles found in Scripture while offering support and understanding to those who are navigating the stormy waters of divorce. May we continually seek God's wisdom and guidance in our marriages, and may His love and grace shine through us as we minister to those affected by divorce in our congregation and beyond.

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, today I will deliver this message to reflect on a powerful lesson from the Bible, a lesson about faith, obedience, and the consequences of our actions. Our sermon is titled "Speak to the Rock," and it revolves around the story of Moses striking the rock. This story can be found in the book of Numbers, chapter 20, verses 7-12. Let's turn to those verses now and read them together.
<blockquote>Numbers 20:7-12 (NIV): 
*"The Lord said to Moses, 'Take the staff, and you and your brother Aaron gather the assembly together. Speak to that rock before their eyes, and it will pour out its water. You will bring water out of the rock for the community so they and their livestock can drink.' So Moses took the staff from the Lord's presence, just as he commanded him. He and Aaron gathered the assembly together in front of the rock, and Moses said to them, 'Listen, you rebels, must we bring you water out of this rock?' Then Moses raised his arm and struck the rock twice with his staff. Water gushed out, and the community and their livestock drank. But the Lord said to Moses and Aaron, 'Because you did not trust in me enough to honor me as holy in the sight of the Israelites, you will not bring this community into the land I give them.'"</blockquote>
<h4>I. The Rock as a Symbol:</h4>
In this passage, the rock serves as a powerful symbol. It represents not only the physical needs of the Israelites but also our spiritual needs and God's faithfulness. In the same way, Jesus is often referred to as the "Rock" in the New Testament, our foundation and the source of living water for our souls.
<h4>II. The Command to Speak:</h4>
God instructed Moses to "speak to the rock." He didn't tell him to strike it. This is a vital lesson for us. God's commands are not arbitrary; they have a purpose. Speaking to the rock symbolizes prayer, faith, and trust in God's provision. It reminds us that in our times of need, we should turn to God in faith, believing that He will provide for us.
Psalm 19:14 (NIV): 
"May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer."
<h4>III. Moses' Mistake:</h4>
Moses, however, made a crucial mistake. He allowed frustration and anger to cloud his judgment. Instead of speaking to the rock as God commanded, he struck it twice with his staff. This act of disobedience had consequences. It cost Moses the privilege of entering the Promised Land.
Hebrews 3:15 (NIV): 
"As has just been said: 'Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as you did in the rebellion.'"
<h4>IV. Lessons for Us:</h4>
What can we learn from Moses' mistake?
<ol>
	<li>Obedience Matters: God's commands are meant for our good. Obedience, even in seemingly small matters, is essential in our walk with Him. 
 
1 Samuel 15:22 (NIV): 
"But Samuel replied: 'Does the Lord delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the Lord? To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better than the fat of rams.'"</li>
	<li>Faith Over Anger: When we face trials or frustrations, we must remember to turn to God in faith rather than reacting out of anger or impatience. 
 
James 1:19-20 (NIV): 
"My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires."</li>
	<li>God's Faithfulness: Despite Moses' mistake, God still provided water for His people. Our heavenly Father is gracious and merciful, always providing for our needs. 
 
Philippians 4:19 (NIV): 
"And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus."</li>
</ol>
<h4>Conclusion:</h4>
Dear brothers and sisters, the story of Moses striking the rock teaches us the importance of faith, obedience, and trust in God's provision. We must remember to "speak to the rock" in our lives, trusting that God will meet our needs in His perfect way and timing. Let us strive to be obedient to His commands and always give Him the glory for the blessings He provides. May we learn from Moses' mistake and walk in faith, trusting in the Rock of our salvation, Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today, I bring you a story of remarkable transformation – a story that reminds us of the boundless power of God's grace to heal and restore even the most broken of lives. It's a tale of a man named David, who went from the depths of despair to the heights of redemption through an unwavering faith in God.
<h4>Part 1: A Life in Ruins:</h4>
David's story began in the shadows of addiction and despair. Lost in the grip of substance abuse, his life spiraled into chaos. His relationships shattered, his dreams crumbled, and his sense of self-worth evaporated. Each day seemed darker than the last, and he felt utterly isolated from God's love.
Key Scripture: Psalm 34:18 
"The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit."
<h4>Part 2: The Encounter with Grace:</h4>
In the midst of his despair, David had an encounter that changed the course of his life. He met a kind-hearted stranger who shared stories of hope and transformation. Today, we will delve into a parable spoken by our Lord Jesus Christ—a parable that illuminates the profound truths of our Christian walk. This parable, often referred to as the "Lamp on a Stand," teaches us about the purpose, responsibility, and impact of shining our light in a world filled with darkness. Let us turn to the Gospel of Luke, chapter 8, verses 16-18, to uncover the wisdom Jesus shared with His disciples.

16 “No one lights a lamp and hides it in a clay jar or puts it under a bed. Instead, they put it on a stand, so that those who come in can see the light. 17 For there is nothing hidden that will not be disclosed, and nothing concealed that will not be known or brought out into the open. 18 Therefore consider carefully how you listen. Whoever has will be given more; whoever does not have, even what they think they have will be taken from them.”</blockquote>
<h4>The Setting and Significance</h4>
In this parable, Jesus uses a common image—an oil lamp—to convey a message that resonates across time and cultures. In the context of His teachings, Jesus was emphasizing the importance of understanding the truths of His kingdom and how believers should engage with them.
