Scripture Reading: “He who is faithful in what is least is faithful also in much.” – Luke 16:10
Brothers and sisters in Christ, many people dream of doing great things for God. We want to have strong faith, powerful prayers, successful ministries, and a life that makes a difference. But sometimes, we forget that greatness in the eyes of God often begins with faithfulness in small things.
God does not only look at what we do in public. He also sees what we do when no one is watching. He sees the small choices, the quiet prayers, the simple acts of kindness, the honest work, the patience we show, and the love we give even when it is not noticed.
In the Christian life, little things matter.
A small word of encouragement can lift a discouraged heart. A short prayer can bring peace to a troubled soul. A simple visit can comfort someone who feels alone. A small act of honesty can become a powerful witness. A little time spent with God each day can strengthen our faith for greater trials.
Jesus said that the one who is faithful in little things will also be faithful in much. This means that God prepares us for greater responsibilities through daily faithfulness.
David was faithful while taking care of sheep before he became king. Joseph was faithful as a servant and prisoner before he became a ruler in Egypt. Daniel was faithful in prayer before he stood before kings. Their greatness did not begin in the palace. It began in the ordinary moments of life.
As Seventh-day Adventist Christians, we are called to live faithfully while waiting for the soon return of Jesus. But readiness for Christ’s coming is not only shown in big events or loud declarations. It is shown in daily surrender.
Are we faithful in our prayer life?
Are we faithful in keeping the Sabbath holy?
Are we faithful in our words, our work, our family, and our responsibilities?
Are we faithful in loving others, even when it is difficult?
Are we faithful in doing what is right, even when no one sees?
Sometimes we think that small sins do not matter, small compromises are harmless, and small duties are not important. But little choices shape the heart. A small compromise, repeated many times, can lead a person away from God. But small acts of obedience, repeated daily, can build a strong Christian character.
The Christian life is not built in one day. It is built day by day, prayer by prayer, choice by choice.
God is not asking us to be famous. He is asking us to be faithful.
Maybe today, your work feels unnoticed. Your service in the church may seem small. Your prayers may feel simple. Your efforts may not be appreciated by others. But remember this: heaven sees what people often ignore. God values every faithful act done with love.
Colossians 3:23 reminds us, “And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men.”
When we clean, serve, teach, lead, help, give, pray, or work, we must do it for the Lord. Human praise may fade, but God’s reward is sure.
Brothers and sisters, Jesus Himself showed faithfulness in humble service. He washed the feet of His disciples. He touched the sick. He welcomed children. He comforted sinners. He served with love. If the King of the universe was willing to serve in humble ways, then we too must be faithful in the little things.
As we wait for the soon coming of Jesus, let us not become careless. Let us not wait for big opportunities before we serve God. Let us begin today—with our family, our church, our workplace, our school, and our community.
Be faithful in prayer.
Be faithful in worship.
Be faithful in kindness.
Be faithful in honesty.
Be faithful in Sabbath keeping.
Be faithful in service.
Be faithful even in the little things.
Because one day, when Jesus comes, the greatest words we can hear are not, “Well done, famous servant,” or “Well done, talented servant,” but “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
Appeal
Today, God is calling us to renew our commitment to Him. Let us ask the Lord to help us become faithful not only in big responsibilities, but also in the small daily choices of life.
May our homes, our church, and our hearts be filled with faithful service. And may we be ready to meet Jesus when He comes again.
Prayer
Our loving Heavenly Father, thank You for reminding us that faithfulness begins in the little things. Help us to serve You with humble hearts. Teach us to be faithful in prayer, in worship, in our work, in our words, and in our daily choices. Forgive us for the times we have been careless or unfaithful. Strengthen us through the Holy Spirit, and prepare us for the soon return of Jesus. May our lives bring honor and glory to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
